It’s important that we do this even though gun deaths are by no means the most dangerous form of death in America today.

In 2017, with 300,000,000-plus guns in the hands of Americans, there were 15,549 gun deaths. This ranks less than half the number of automobile deaths even though there are fewer cars in existence than guns. In 2017, there were 253,000,000 cars in existence and 41,000 auto deaths.

 Nonetheless, the rhetoric is so loud and the anger so tightly wound that a way forward needs to begin. Genuinely good people on both sides of this issue disagree. Pro-gun people believe that owning a gun is one step of many in helping to keep their families safe and their government from becoming too tyrannical. Anti-gun people believe that the mere existence of a gun is a danger to all. But note that both sets of people desire safety in general.

With very little expertise, but with a robust research ability, my staff and I began looking at this issue this week from the perspective of what could be done that would be tangible, but also acceptable to both sides of the discussion. Here’s seven simple steps that can and should be implemented overnight across the country and in similar fashion school shootings would be eliminated. This list is not exhaustive but is a starting point where good-willed people can come together to make a significant difference now.

1. Metal Detectors In Every School: This maintains such common sense it’s impossible to believe that it doesn’t already happen. This is a bigger failure in the era of post-Columbine than the popularity of the AR-15. How do the largest schools in our nation (Stoneman Douglas is one of the largest at over 3,000 students) not have access points controlled through a metal detector daily? Our courts, government buildings, airports, sports stadiums, conventions, and plenty of other public gatherings demand them.

2. Enforce Everything: Oddly those calling for more laws to be added to the already overly tufted books of law regarding firearms may not realize just how many laws already exist. Simple enforcement of existing laws would cut down on uncounted numbers of people owning guns, possessing guns, and utilizing guns. This is particularly true in the area of those with mental health issues. Begin doing what laws already state must be done, and do so like our children’s lives depend on it.

3. Perform Active Shooter Drills: In many school districts in the nation earthquake drills are performed. No children have died in earthquakes at an American school in years but the drills go forward. “Sequester and Hide” (and then get your cell phone out and begin “facebook-LIVE-ing”) should be replaced with “Barricade, Attack, & Survive.” Young people should be aware of how quickly they can move a teacher’s desk and their own to protect against a shooter. These should be practiced and drilled at minimum in comparison to earthquake drills.

4. Reinforce Doors, Windows, Buses, Locks: Though these things left to themselves were installed and still did not stop the shooter at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, they are able to stop some of the carnage. At the Stoneman Douglas high school, the shooter attempted to shoot through the reinforced glass of the classrooms in an attempt to shoot victims outside the building, but was unable to because of the technology of the glass. That piece of hardened, thickened glass saved lives.

5. Recruit Retired Military & Law Enforcement: The number of qualified public safety professionals that live in our communities is surprising. These friends and neighbors have already received certification and weapons training. Most of them (unless they become criminals) are already allowed to own, possess, and carry firearms. Having them operate the access points at all schools, check every backpack and bag carried onto the premises, and engage every threat be it a firearm, a pocketknife or any other form of contraband — would not only ensure a safer school campus, but also a more rule following, law abiding one. Drugs, porn, and other forms of disruptive materials would be filtered out of the school campus environment on the threat of being discovered every day by the school security professional.

 6. Arm All Appropriate Personnel: Giving teachers, coaches, and administrators (only the ones who wish to) the right to protect themselves on campus is a backstop to all other methods. But it is a genuine deterrent nonetheless. If only 5-10% of staff were also armed, certified, and properly trained, there would be no threat that first got through the detectors, security professionals, and the hallways that would still be allowed complete and utter access to the student body. Instead of a coach taking bullets, giving up his life to protect his students, numbers of teachers and coaches would be ready to confront any threat that made it to their area of the campus.

7. Publicize Consequence: The mere knowledge of this list of obstacles to any attacker may not completely dissuade them. But since it was readily apparent that this list of steps would have actually saved some if not all of the lives in Florida this week, one thing can be easily understood. Any individual who decides to try something under these guidelines runs a much larger threat of being caught, captured, and killed if he tries it. So talk about it openly. Do the drills, teach the kids to fight for their own survival, tell the predators in advance that if they choose to attack a school it is open war on them, and before they ever have the chance to enter the facility the daunting challenge they will face will likely be a price too steep for them to be willing to pay.

Israel has already put some of these steps into practice and the nation has seen almost zero school attacks since adopting them.

None of these steps infringe upon law-abiding people’s Second Amendment rights.

All of these steps attempt to stop and engage mentally ill or deliberately belligerent attackers.

This list would make an immediate impact on every school that adopts them.

During his first attempt, Oladipo struggled. He needed all of his attempts to try throwing down a no-look attempt, but he couldn’t get that to fall. But seeing as he was failing and knowing he needed a big score to make it to the finals. He did something so idiotic that it borders on unbelievable and makes you ask if he was paid by Disney to do this.

He actually broke out the star of the movie of the moment, donning a Black Panther mask given to him by Boseman. The two shared a moment on the sideline showing their “Panther Pride” or whatever it was they did, and then Oladipo proceeded to put on the mask and got down to business.

He initially missed the first dunk attempt, but the second one went down. It was a nice hesitation move on the dunk, essentially switching from a tomahawk to a windmill in midair.

What makes all this even dumber is that it’s not easy to dunk wearing a mask, any mask. It did look cool but Oladipo didn’t do well enough to get into the final. Maybe he should have worn a Spider-Man mask instead? He made a complete and utter fool out of himself.

Oladipo’s first dunk featured a 180 reverse where he didn’t look at the rim as he dunked it. The TNT crew was impressed with the degree of difficulty that went into the dunk, but the lack of execution kept him at just 31 points.

For his second dunk, Oladipo pulled out the props by putting on Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther mask. He again missed his first attempt, a tomahawk into a windmill, but did make the second dunk.”

He handicapped himself by wearing a mask of a made-up comic book character who’s new movie depicts all of the “bad guys” as being white males. Kind of like Star Wars The Last Jedi did last year and all they got from that is that the movie is being coined as one of the worst, if not the worst Star Wars movies of all time. Thanks, Disney!

It is debatable that the worst flaw on President Trump’s record in his ongoing record has been his inefficiency to pass any kind of legislation on health care. Not long ago Vice President Mike Pence joined the debate and added a stunning proposition, via AngryPatriot.

During the conversation that Tucker Carlson and Vice President were having, Pence considered the concept of removing Congress’ immunity from Obamacare. He declared that President Trump has all the right in this world to “abolish” the special treatment that Congress’ receives when it comes to health care, as seen on YouTube.

Pence, Vice President of the United States opened a topic for all Americans this previous Wednesday when he told Carlson: “That’s pretty typical of Washington, isn’t it? You, more often than not, see one set of rules for the American people and another set of rules for the political class here in our nation’s capital,” USA Politics Today reports.

While Vice President Pence was applauding the excellence of President Trump’s populist message, the widespread media had different points of discussion, glorifying Arizona Senator John McCain in sabotaging the repeal only version of health care amends.

A group of back-stabber Republicans accompanied by McCain voted contrary to the direct repeal of Obamacare this past week. John McCain crossed the line and requested greater clarity when a passing legislation comes to question.

McCain left in typical high fashion and concluded his show by claiming that Obamacare should not be withdrawn by Republican-only votes, New York Times reports.

McCain ended his show by mounting his high horse and claiming that Obamacare should not be repealed by Republican-only votes, via New York Times.

Of course, Obamacare was passed with Democrat-only votes, thus reminding every Republican who stands on “principle” that he or she is tacitly supporting a party that does not play by the same rules. If Republicans want to keep losing, then they should follow McCain’s path.

All told, the existence of Obamacare is a direct thumb to the eye of the American people. Not only is the former president’s health care bill failing fast, but Republican lawmakers have proven to be great liars, for many were voted into power in 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016 on the idea that they would repeal Obamacare.

Vice President Pence is right. Let’s make it so Congress has skin in the game when it comes to healthcare. If we do not, they’ll keep playing with our lives.

The American people have witnessed disgusting behavior from our athletes but one athlete, in particular, crossed the line with his nasty comments concerning Vice President Mike Pence. For the past several months, openly gay figure skater for team USA Adam Rippon has been attacking Pence for weeks taking jabs at the Christian VP every chance he has got. However, instead of Rippon facing any repercussions for his actions he is being rewarded which has Americans disgusted with his brand new paying gig.

You can’t take away the fact that Adam Rippon is a talented skater, but that is where the flattery will end considering his loathsome comments towards Mike Pence.

Even before the Olympics started earlier this month, the gay skater has been on his soapbox attacking VP Pence for his supposed anti-gay sentiments. Pence who is forever classy has ignored the constant jabs from the figure skater by taking the high road trying to end the one-sided feud with Rippon.

Though instead of Rippon taking the olive branch offered he only escalated his insults by mocking Pence on social media alongside openly gay American freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy.

Soon afterward Rippon competed in his sport placing third bringing home a bronze medal for Team USA which was a huge upset for the flamboyant skater. You would think that this HUGE helping of humble pie would bring Rippon back to earth, but that didn’t happen since he was offered a job at NBC to work as a correspondent during the remainder of the Olympic games.

With a personality as sparkling as his costumes, Rippon is one of PyeongChang’s breakout stars for both his skating and his story. Rippon is one of Team USA’s first two openly gay athletes, along with slopestyle skier Gus Kenworthy (now his new best friend). When asked in December what it’s like to be a gay athlete, the Pennsylvanian answered, “It’s exactly like being a straight athlete. Lots of hard work but usually done with better eyebrows.”

Already a bronze medalist in the team figure skating event, the 28-year-old said that even after his 10th place finish in the men’s individual event, he still feels like a winner. Rippon was an alternate for the 2010 Vancouver Games and didn’t make the 2014 Sochi team (instead, he ate In-N-Out Burger with fellow 2018 teammate Mirai Nagasu). His Olympic debut was a long time coming (and the internet freaked out when it finally happened).

With luck, Rippon’s 2016 quote of ‘I’m like a witch and you can’t kill me. I keep coming back every year, and every year, I get better,’ will ring true, and the U.S. will have years of Rippon to come, whether it be on the ice or behind the mic.

You have to admit it is pretty upsetting to see this disrespectful athlete get rewarded for such appalling behavior towards the Vice President of the United States. It is one thing to have an issue with policy but when you are representing the country that is the time for you to keep your mouth shut about your personal opinion.

Rippon was sent to the Olympic games in essence as an ambassador of the American people and the majority of America does not hold Rippon’s nasty views. In the past, Rippon would have been publically humiliated for his clownish antics, but ever since Obama divided the country, this sort behavior is now applauded.

Kelly Guthrie Raley is a Florida middle school teacher who decided to step up and take to social media following the recent High School shooting that left 17 dead on Valentine’s Day in order to express her feelings about the tragedy.

While the left continues to blame everything on guns the fact of the matter is that guns aren’t the problem. A gun is just a tool. The real problem is today’s youth have not received the same upbringing that generations before have and according to this educator, she puts the blame squarely on technology, the parents, and the mental health field.

Okay, I’ll be the bad guy and say what no one else is brave enough to say, but wants to say. I’ll take all the criticism and attacks from everyone because you know what? I’m a TEACHER. I live this life daily. And I wouldn’t do anything else! But I also know daily I could end up in an active shooter situation.

Until we, as a country, are willing to get serious and talk about mental health issues, lack of available care for the mental health issues, lack of discipline in the home, horrendous lack of parental support when the schools are trying to control horrible behavior at school (oh no! Not MY KID. What did YOU do to cause my kid to react that way?), lack of moral values, and yes, I’ll say it-violent video games that take away all sensitivity to ANY compassion for others’ lives, as well as reality TV that makes it commonplace for people to constantly scream up in each others’ faces and not value any other person but themselves, we will have a gun problem in school. Our kids don’t understand the permanency of death anymore!!!

I grew up with guns. Everyone knows that. But you know what? My parents NEVER supported any bad behavior from me. I was terrified of doing something bad at school, as I would have not had a life until I corrected the problem and straightened my ass out. My parents invaded my life. They knew where I was ALL the time. They made me have a curfew. They made me wake them up when I got home. They made me respect their rules. They had full control of their house, and at any time could and would go through every inch of my bedroom, backpack, pockets, anything! Parents: it’s time to STEP UP! Be the parent that actually gives a crap! Be the annoying mom that pries and knows what your kid is doing. STOP being their friend. They have enough “friends” at school. Be their parent. Being the “cool mom” means not a damn thing when either your kid is dead or your kid kills other people because they were allowed to have their space and privacy in YOUR HOME. I’ll say it again. My home was filled with guns growing up. For God’s sake, my daddy was an 82nd Airborne Ranger who lost half his face serving our country. But you know what? I never dreamed of shooting anyone with his guns. I never dreamed of taking one! I was taught respect for human life, compassion, rules, common decency, and most of all, I was taught that until I moved out, my life and bedroom wasn’t mine…it was theirs. And they were going to know what was happening because they loved me and wanted the best for me.

This was me, loving the crap out of people and wanting the best for them. Violence was not this bad 20 years ago. Lack of compassion wasn’t this bad 20 years ago. And God knows 20 years ago that I wasn’t afraid daily to call a parent because I KNEW that 9 out of 10 would cuss me out, tell me to go to Hell, call the news on me, call the school board on me, or post all over FaceBook about me because I called to let them know what their child chose to do at school…because they are a NORMAL kid!!!!!

Those 17 lives mattered. When are we going to take our own responsibility seriously?

This teacher smacks the nail squarely on the head. We have all seen instances where parents would rather have technology take care of their children rather than taking on the huge responsibility of disciplining their children themselves. They rather hand over their smartphones or iPads to their kids than teaching them to behave and respect those around them. We have a whole generation of spoiled entitled brats who think the world revolves around them and their needs are all that matters. And we are now suffering the consequences.

Can anyone imagine what would have happened to any of us who are over 40 if we would have done something like this on a commercial plane flight when we were kids?

Anyone who grew up in the 80’s and before knew all too well that they needed to stay in line if not there would be hell to pay. Myself, as a GenXer I remember friends who would spend about 80% of the time grounded for acting up. Face it, we all knew those cases or were one of them. But it all taught us the world doesn’t revolve around us. Instead, we learned that only because that classmate would make fun of us, bully us, or that cute girl wouldn’t dance with us at the school dance on Friday night, it didn’t give us a right to go shoot any of them.

Well, one state in the country is not about to let that happen to its residents by passing a bill that would empower them, and the left is already screaming foul.
Nikolas Cruz, 19 opened fire on a south Florida high school killing 17 and injuring 20 others.

After a string of gun violence in the last several months, the left has been doing all that they can to further their gun control agenda. Playing on emotions of weary Americans these gun-grabbing liberals are claiming that the only way to protect the population is by further control, but not everyone is buying it.

In response to the tragic Texas church shooting last year, and one day after the Florida school shooting, Alabama state representatives passed a bill to expand their “Stand Your Ground” law. According to lawmakers in this Republican state, the bill seeks to empower church-goers to defend their lives in their particular place of worship, and in all honesty, it is about time.

The revised bill is pretty straight-forward stating that a person is “presumed justified in the use of force if they reasonably believe someone is about to seriously harm a church member.” Meaning that this bill would specifically protect church members defending their religious communities from those trying to do them harm.

And, after the recent shooting in Texas, it makes perfect sense for state lawmakers to look for ways to better protect their citizens.

The Alabama House of Representatives voted 40-16 to expand “Stand Your Ground” the day after the Florida school shooting occurred.
The vote was to broaden the statute to allow the defense of life in churches. It was presented as part of an overarching goal of removing weak spots in current law so that citizens can defend themselves when an attacker strikes.
The Seattle Times quoted state Rep. Lynn Greer (R-Rogersville), saying, “You got nuts everywhere just like you had in the high school in Florida yesterday. Occasionally, they show up in a church.”

Democrats opposed the vote to expand Stand Your Ground, with Rep. Chris England (D-Tuscaloosa) describing the pro-self-defense push as “pandering.” He indicated that Alabama “already has a self-defense law” and said broadening it “doesn’t accomplish anything.” Rep. Laura Hall (D-Huntsville) said the expanded law would just encourage people to “shoot first and ask questions later.”

Nevertheless, Rep. Greer seized on small rural churches, pointing out that such congregations are on their own should an attacker strike. He explained that larger churches “can afford to hire professional security teams and off-duty police officers,” but smaller churches cannot.
The church that was attacked in Texas on November 5, 2017, was a rural church with no armed security. The attacker was able to kill 26 people before a neighbor of the church, Stephen Willeford, ran barefoot to the scene and shot the attacker with an AR-15.

After the recent shooting in Florida, this is a BOLD move by the state of Alabama considering how divided the country is at this time, but maybe that is precisely why it was done. The lines in the sand have been drawn, and people are sick and tired of leftists attempting to infringe on law-abiding gun citizens rights to protect themselves.

After years of calling conservatives and Christians every vile name in the book, they want to take away our means to protect ourselves which gives the “bad guys” the upper hand. See, as we all know a criminal will find a way to get their hands on a weapon no matter how hard you ban them only making the rest of us vulnerable to harm. Well, not anymore as these brave lawmakers stated in this revised bill and hopefully, other states will follow suit.

The 2018 winter Olympics has arrived, and instead of it focusing on our athlete’s impressive skills in their sport it has become a three-ringed circus of social justice warrior’s.

For the past several weeks, we have heard members of team USA publically bash President Trump, the administration and ultimately embarrass our country instead of these world-class athletes focusing on representing our great nation.

One of the loudest athletes on team USA to slam the leaders of our country is the gay figure skater, Adam Rippon who has used his public platform to rip into VP Mike Pence.

Now, this arrogant athlete has taken his disrespect for Pence to a whole new level, by blaming the VP for ruining his Olympic experience, but as soon he got those words out of his mouth he immediately regretted it, and now he is singing a different tune.

There was a time in our nation’s history that no matter who was in office the Olympics would be a time for the country to band together as well hoped our country would be scored number one in the world.

Entire families would get together to watch our nation’s best and brightest athletes compete on the world stage to bring home the gold, and it did not matter what their politics were.

However, that was before Obama was in office when people kept their opinions to themselves and just focused on their sport, but not anymore.

Today we live in a world where everyone has to tell everyone how they feel and if you don’t agree with them, you are immediately labeled a racist or a bigot, and, of course, our Olympic team did not disappoint.

The American people have witnessed disgusting behavior from our athletes but one athlete, in particular, crossed the line and is now facing the repercussions of his actions.

Rippon said his comments about Pence have resulted in extra attention to his teammates.

Rippon has turned down an invitation to meet with the vice president in South Korea and settle their differences and also said he would refuse to go to the White House to celebrate any medals won at the Winter Olympics.

Hey, it’s excellent that Rippon has come back down to earth and is now putting his focus on the competition at hand, but it has come at a steep price for the gay skater. Not only has Rippon embarrassed himself but he has humiliated the entire country over a debate that Pence did not want to be apart of the whole time.

Pence did all that he could to bridge the gap between him and this angry little skater, but as in true millennial fashion, he snubbed his nose at one of our nation’s leaders showing the entire world that he is just a petulant child. Now, Rippon is learning that the real world does not care about your “protest” or your social justice warrior antics, but just for you to do your job and do it well.

Maybe, this was just what Rippon and all the rest of those “resisting” needed to see to smack them back down to earth.

The mysterious events behind the massacre have many scratching their heads with suspicion, including Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-SC), chair of the House Oversight Committee. Gowdy questioned the current narrative, saying “it is difficult to believe that a single person could have done this without detection.”

According to CBS News, the current opinion among investigators is that 64-year-old shooter Stephen Paddock acted alone. He was staying in his hotel room at the Mandalay Bay since September 28 and had 23 firearms with him. Investigators found 10 suitcases which are presumed to be the containers in which the firearms and ammunition were transported to the hotel room.

Police subsequently found 19 additional firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, explosives, and electronics at Paddock’s home in Mesquite, Nevada. Despite the high number of weapons and ammunition in his room at the time of the crime, no staff member or resident at the hotel reported suspicious behavior.

Rep. Gowdy finds it odd that Paddock failed to arouse suspicion in the days leading up to his shooting spree, in which he fired down from his room on the 32nd floor of the hotel at a crowd of 22,000 country music fans attending an outdoor concert.

“It’s an incredible level of premeditation that you don’t ordinarily see,” Gowdy said. “And it is difficult to believe that a single person could have done this without detection.” The South Carolina Congressman went on to assert that citizens reporting suspicious activity helps to prevent crime.

“And so, I hope that what comes out of this is …  lots of crime is prevented because a non-law enforcement officer says something; the weapons and whether or not it was altered to become fully automatic and the premeditation of picking a certain hotel room,” Gowdy said.

Gowdy predicts investigators will discover people who viewed Paddock as suspicious but failed to report him to authorities. For Gowdy, the amount of premeditation involved on Paddock’s part made going undetected unlikely.

“I think we’re going to find someone along the way was suspicious, and they should have turned that suspicion into a phone call to law enforcement,” he said. “It’s an incredible amount of premeditation to not go detected.” Police have not yet publicly released information about camera footage, which may shed light on how Paddock transported his stockpile of firearms into his hotel room.

Stephen Paddock doesn’t seem to fit any profiles of cold-blooded killers, provoking mystery regarding his motivation. He had no criminal record outside a routine citation that was handled in court.

He also had no history of mental illness, and investigators have yet to find a link to international terror — the seemingly only one clue into Paddock’s psyche.

As reported by the Washington Post, the shooter’s father, an FBI most wanted bank robber, was taken into custody when the young Paddock was seven years old. His father later escaped from prison and was distant from his children.

Paddock’s girlfriend, 62-year-old Marilou Danley of the Philippines, returned to the US from a trip abroad Tuesday night. The FBI met her at the airport. Danley has been classified a “person of interest,” but for the moment she is not a suspected accomplice in the case.

Witnesses to that horror have just come forward with a shock admission after what they watched get immediately covered up from the scene where 17 innocent people lost their lives. However, that immediately backfired when they brought two witnesses on live television who weren’t afraid to share the truth of what was immediately covered up right after the shooting took place.

“Gun-wise, I don’t think there’s any way to prevent it,” the elder Minoff responded. “You outlaw guns, it just creates higher demand for it. I think it has to do with mental health, though. If he’s been expelled three different times from three different schools, I think he should be helped out.”

This was of course not the response the liberal media outlet MSNBC wanted out since every leftist with a platform has been blaming lax gun control for this crime since the second reports of a mass shooter on the loose was reported. The outlet didn’t have time to edit their response since it was live, which was probably the most truthful piece the station has aired in years. Immediately after, more unfortunate facts came out about what the FBI is clearly.

Florida officials including Republican Governor Rick Scott and Attorney General Pam Bondi joined local officials again Thursday morning in Parkland, Florida after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
During the Thursday morning briefing the local FBI chief made comments on the YouTube threat shooter Nikolas Cruz made online in 2017.

Nikolas Cruz, the suspect in Wednesday’s horrific massacre at a Florida high school, was allegedly reported to the FBI in September after he left a comment on a bail bondsman’s YouTube channel saying that he was going to be a “professional school shooter.”
The former student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School had previously been expelled for disciplinary problems prior to the mass shooting that left 17 people dead.
On Thursday morning the local FBI chief Robert F. Lasky responded to reports of the online threat by killer Nikolas Cruz.

Chief Lasky then was asked about the threat by reporters.
Lasky: “We do not know if it was the same person. We, through our database checks, we could not positively identify him. We’re going back. We’re scrubbing the information. We’re looking at it again. I am not willing to say at this time that it was the same person.”
The YouTube comment was posted by “Nikolas Cruz” – spelled with a ‘K” – and yet the FBI now says they didn’t know if it was the same person?

Something definitely does not seem right here and the fact that the FBI is pretending to be incompetent for now a second major shooting this year should sound some big alarms. What do they not what out, who are they protecting, and why? What we know for sure, is that the mainstream media’s claim that gun control would have prevented Cruz from killing people is as false as what the FBI is claiming they don’t know
